RCMP AlertSpecial Chamber Members AdvisoryCounterfeit $100 Bills Counterfeit $100 bills are now showing up in Vancouver. Electronic goods and related products have been the main target in Vancouver. Counterfeit groups will typically saturate an area for a day or more and then move on to avoid detection. If you are receiving $100 bills from customers make sure to take a close look at the bills for common features that can identify counterfeit currency. (ei. feel of paper, clarity of images, distinction of fine print and lining, colouring on the bill, paper planchettes or water marks) In real currency these features can be scrapped off. If you suspect a counterfeit bill, hold on to the bill and call the police right away. If the bill passer believes it is their hard earned money they will stick around to get their purchase. If they are criminally involved and knows that the police are being called they will flee the area to avoid detection. If you have any tips related to this incident please email: |
